JPG, PNG and WebP. You can keep the original format, or convert to WebP for the smallest files, or to JPG. WebP usually gives the biggest savings at the same quality.
You control it. The quality slider trades size for detail. Around 70 to 80% is usually indistinguishable from the original while cutting the file size a lot. Set it higher for near-lossless, lower for the smallest file.
PNG is a lossless format, so the quality slider does not apply to it. To shrink a PNG, either reduce its dimensions with the max width option, or convert it to WebP or JPG, which compress far better.
