How to Make a WiFi QR Code
A WiFi QR code lets guests connect to your network by scanning it with their phone camera, no password typing required. Here is how to create one for free.
Why use a WiFi QR code?
Instead of reading out a long, complicated password, you print or display a WiFi QR code. Guests point their camera at it, tap the prompt, and they are connected. It is perfect for a home, cafe, office, rental or waiting room.
How to create one
- Open the QR code generator and choose the WiFi type.
- Enter your network name (SSID), the password, and the security type (usually WPA/WPA2).
- Download the code as a PNG or SVG and print or display it.
The details are encoded directly in the QR code, so anyone who scans it joins instantly. Because the tool runs in your browser, your WiFi password is never sent to a server.
Where to put it
Print it on a card by the door, add it to a table tent, or stick it near the router. For a cleaner look you can add a "Scan me" frame so people know it is scannable.
Other kinds of QR code
